Tonight, Vin Diesel posted a photo on his Facebook page from the set of his long-awaited, highly anticipated third Riddick film. As you see, it does not reveal all that much, as it is merely a rough behind the scenes photo on set, featuring wires, lighting racks and even a fire extinguisher behind a crouching Vin, in full Riddick gear.
While the photo does little more than confirm the fact that production on Riddick is actually underway again, Vin let slip a tiny comment accompanying the photo: “Being king has its perks… yet an alpha Furyan, must return to his primitive state… that animal side.”
In this comment he confirms what is implied at the ending of The Chronicles of Riddick, that he is in fact king of the Necromongers. But of course, Vin Diesel sitting on a throne, ordering people to wash his goggles wouldn’t be a very exciting sequel, so he is forced out into the wild, bringing us all some more gritty action set-pieces. I’m just hoping it’ll be more in the claustrophobic Pitch Black vein than overblown Chronicles style.
Do you agree with that?
Riddick stars Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff and Jordi Mollá. It’s directed by David Twohy, like in the first two films, and is scheduled to come out in 2013 (barring the Mayan Apocalypse, of course).

Damn! Looking forward to it. Agree with ya on preferring pitch black style plot.
