Vin Diesel is a geek. He maintains his own facebook page, instead of having an assistant do it (like so many stars do), where he posts awkward photos of himself, self-made posters, fan-made posters and unexpectedly sappy messages about everything from movies to the love of being alive. And we at Filmophilia adore him for it.
He has also been very diligent in keeping us updated on the process of making the third Riddick film, both its ups and its downs. He’s even posted not one, but two behind-the-scenes photos of himself in full Riddick gear. And tonight he posted the first official production still from this sequel to cult favorites Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Take a look.
We won’t bother you with any analysis of this photo or any spitballing on its significance within the film. Instead we offer you a message from Vin himself:
“First time I posted about Riddick was back in 2009, Facebook was fresh…
They were asking me to come to the headquarters to talk about this new concept of communicating with fans. I was proud to lead that wave, yet all I was doing, was opening up about my passion – film.
So this picture of Our 2012 production of Riddick, is a cool victory for all of us… it shows that studios can be influenced by your voice.
P.s. Proud of Our Riddick team.”
Sweet guy. We really hope to meet him in person one day. So, Vin, if you’re reading. send us an e-mail.
